ABSTRACT
Mastalgia is one of the leading problems for women seeking medical help but still remains somewhat unrecognised. Psychological factors and personality traits of the patients, whose organic pathologic semptom about their mastalgia has been ruled out, have to be evaluated carefully. In this review, it has been aimed to demonstrate psychological factors contributing to mastalgia unrelated to organic causes, female patients suff ering from mastalgia in relation to depression, anxiety, alexithymia and their general level psychological symptoms.
