ABSTRACT

Recently, the increased use of surgical gamma probe for sentinel lymph node biopsy in operation suits causes increased radiation exposure of the staff who works in these areas. This paper reviews the studies about the radiation safety of the surgical and pathology staff in surgical suits during sentinel lymph node biopsy in breast cancer. The principals of radiation safety is discussed and useful measures for the staff are summarized.
